Charnwood Eco Hub is a vibrant not‑for‑profit community space in Loughborough dedicated to sustainable living, creativity, and community connection. With 19 active volunteers, the hub offers an inclusive environment where people can meet, make, fix, create, and share ideas that promote eco‑friendly living. Key features include their Scrapstore, Library of Things, Makerspace, and a busy calendar of workshops and community events.
Volunteers are central to Charnwood Eco Hub, supporting everything from daily activities and events to behind‑the‑scenes admin and outreach. As a largely volunteer‑run organisation, their skills and commitment keep the hub welcoming, affordable, and environmentally focused—reducing waste, sharing skills, and strengthening community connections.
Volunteers describe the hub as friendly, purposeful, and community‑led, valuing the flexibility, meaningful impact, and strong sense of belonging it offers. The hub also runs monthly volunteer socials which strengthen community spirit and create an environment where volunteers feel valued, supported, and connected.
Current Volunteering Opportunities
Charnwood Eco Hub welcomes new volunteers and offers a variety of flexible roles suitable for different interests:
- Community Engagement Team Member – Support local outreach, promote activities, and assist with events and volunteer recruitment.
- General Hub Support – Help staff the Scrapstore and Library of Things, greet visitors, and keep the hub organised—no experience needed, just enthusiasm!
There are also opportunities to support admin, communications, events, or share skills in workshops. Everyone is welcome to get involved.
