Role Purpose
As an Eco Hub Shift Volunteer, your role is to help keep the Hub open, welcoming, and running smoothly during public opening hours. You’ll be the friendly face that greets visitors, provides information, and supports basic day-to-day operations within the space.

About the organisation:

Charnwood Eco Hub is a not-for-profit, shared community hub based in Loughborough. Our aim is to provide a space to meet, make, fix, create and share sustainable ideas and resources.

Full Details:

Key Responsibilities

• Open and close the Hub safely and securely (training provided)
• Greet visitors, answer questions, and offer information about the Hub’s projects, events, and sustainability resources
• Keep the space tidy, stocked, and welcoming
• Log visitor numbers and any feedback or issues during your shift
• Assist with Hub activities as needed (e.g. helping with the refill station, lending library, or displays)
• Report any maintenance, safety, or supply issues to the Hub Coordinator
• Support a calm, inclusive, and eco-conscious atmosphere

Skills & Qualities Needed

• Friendly, reliable, and approachable
• Comfortable speaking with members of the public
• Organised and responsible
• Interest in sustainability and community projects
• Willingness to learn and work independently (you may be the only volunteer on duty during quieter shifts)

Shifts & Availability

Shifts are flexible and usually last 2–4 hours. We are currently open on Wednesday evenings, Thursday mornings and Saturday mornings. We are urgently looking for Saturday volunteers. You can volunteer as frequently or occasionally as you like – whether it’s once a week, once a month, or as a backup.
