The Coordinator is central to the running of each Read Easy group; it's often described as the best job in the Team! The Coordinator makes initial contact with anyone who wants to improve their basic reading skills, informally assesses them and pairs them up with a trained Volunteer Reading Coach.

About this role

The Coordinator plays a key role in enabling people across Leicester and surrounding areas, with no reading skills or very poor skills to learn to read which is often life-changing for them.

The Coordinator will:

  • meet and informally assess people who want to improve their basic reading skills (‘Readers’)
  • help to interview new Volunteer Reading Coaches
  • pair up Reading Coaches and Readers to provide confidential, free 1:1 support
  • support reading pairs through phone calls, visits and by providing resources
  • liaise with the Literacy Specialist
  • attend a monthly meeting of the Management Team
  • liaise with existing Coordinators

Requirements

  • Relevant qualification or training
  • Access to a vehicle
  • Driving license
  • References needed
  • Willing to take a DBS Check
  • Age restrictions

Time commitment: a minimum of 1 day a week up to 3 days a week - flexible working times essential.
