Feedback from young people shows that living with a life limiting conditions can lead to feelings of isolation and few organisations offer age appropriate services in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to alleviate this isolation. Having a group where young people can support each other and spend time in an environment that offers a holistic approach rather than focusing on the persons condition can be beneficial.
Key Volunteer Duties
- Support young people to undertake age appropriate activities
- Create a comfortable and fun environment for young people
- To feedback any issues or concerns you have or that are raised by the young people
- Provide practical support such as making drinks and light meals
Personal Qualities to fulfil role
- Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the young person
- Good interpersonal skills, non-judgemental, strong on empathy and a great listener
- Team worker
- Honest and reliable
- Friendly
- Have the ability to deal with sensitive and distressing situations
- Must be able to respect client confidentiality whilst being mindful of safeguarding reporting.
