Role description

Help to raise the profile of and promote and raise funds for Sue Young Cancer Support (SYCS) within an allocated geographical area and in a variety of ways, including giving talks and representing the charity at cheque presentations. You will also be involved in fundraising activities.

·       Accountable to the Head of Fundraising.

·       Supporting in the planning, setting up and execution of events and fundraising activities.

·       Attending invited events, for example community/social group meetings, school assemblies, and cheque presentations to give presentations/talk about the work of SYCS and the difference we are making.

·       To inspire people to support us through fundraising, or to thank supporters for the fundraising they have completed.

·       Representing the charity in a professional manner.

·       Talking to members of the public as appropriate and answering questions about the charity.

·       Promoting planned fundraising initiatives and activities.

·       Liaising with SYCS Fundraiser and team.

·       Identify organisations, areas, and events to represent SYCS.

·       Distribution of flyers and leaflets.

·       An induction session to introduce you to the charity, recognise your skills and identify any ongoing support you may need from us to fulfil the role.

·       A designated point of contact for support and guidance, when needed.

·       Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses, for example travelling to and from a fundraising venue.

Time commitment

·       This is a flexible role to suit your availability, and as such there is no minimum time commitment. Volunteer Ambassadors will be contacted as appropriate and offered the opportunity to attend events to which we are invited. 

Location

·       Opportunities are available throughout Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland, based at the Helen Webb House – centre and remotely. You may need to travel for some cheque presentations and talks.

·       We will arrange an informal meeting to discuss your application and the role, before obtaining references. Following this we will invite you to a short induction and tour.
