About this role
What will I need to do?
Step into the driver’s seat and join our close-knit team of drivers. Whilst you start at our hospice in Lark Rise, you will be travelling the vibrant landscapes of the East Midlands, where every mile driven fuels our support for our babies, children, young people and their families. Last year our van drivers and mates covered over 18,700 miles, showing just how vital a link they are between the hospice and our retail shops. Your role in transporting our donations directly contributes to raising valuable funds crucial for our hospice’s work.
Typical tasks the role could involve:
- Load and Deliver: Dive into the action by helping load goods and donations onto the vehicle at the hospice and offloading them at our shops, ensuring every item finds its rightful place. This may require use of a Sat Nav system which will be provided.
- Corporate Crusader: Join forces with our corporate fundraising team with collections from local businesses as part of our ‘Where’s it bin?’ scheme or collecting sizeable donations to bring back to the hospice at Lark Rise.
- Ultimate Unloader: Wrap up each trip by assisting with the offloading of goods back at the hospice, leaving no item behind.
- Logger of Information: Ensure regulatory compliance by diligently completing essential paperwork such as mileage logs and petrol card forms, proving that even the smallest details are handled with precision.
Will it suit me?
If you hold a full driving licence, are comfortable conversing with various individuals, can drive a small transit style van and are not perturbed by travelling around the East Midlands, being a part of the volunteer drivers’ team could be perfect for you.  Embrace the open road as you become a vital part of our fundraising and retail teams, making a real difference with every mile driven!
If you do not have a driving licence, get in touch about our drivers mate role!
