About this role
The Social Media Volunteer will assist in the creation, curation, and management of content across various social media platforms. This role is designed for individuals passionate about social media, digital marketing, and community engagement. The volunteer will help enhance our online presence, engage with our community, and promote VAL’s mission to help people change their lives for the better.
Responsibilities:
- Content Creation: Design and create engaging graphics, videos, and posts for social media channels (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn).
- Content Scheduling: Assist in scheduling posts using social media management tools (e.g. Hootsuite).
- Engagement: Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely manner.
- Analytics: Track and report on social media metrics to gauge success and suggest improvements.
- Research: Stay up-to-date with social media trends and best practices to recommend new strategies.
- Campaign Support: Assist in the development and execution of social media campaigns.
- Community Building: Engage with followers and foster a sense of community by sharing relevant content and encouraging discussions.
Requirements:
- Skills: Proficiency in social media platforms and tools, basic graphic design skills and a good understanding of digital marketing principles.
- Experience: Prior experience in social media management, marketing, or communications is preferred but not required.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Creativity: Ability to create visually appealing and engaging content.
- Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Passion: A genuine interest in the organization’s mission and goals.

Department: Marketing and Communications
Reports To: Bhav Lodhia, Marketing & Communications Lead
Location: Office based in Leicester initially – There may be a chance to come along to external events that VAL hold.
Time Commitment: 7 hours per week minimum
Duration: Minimum 3 months commitment – or would suit a student throughout the summer break.
