About this role
VAL is looking to establish and maintain strong connections with the diverse communities of place and of interest across Leicestershire and so we are looking for local volunteers to act as eyes and ears for VAL as a grassroots community level. By becoming a Community Ambassador with VAL, you will be able to share what is going on in local communities and help us to shape our services, and support the wider Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector to help people in our diverse communities.
As a Community Ambassador, you will be asked to act as a local ambassador for VAL with VCSE organisations, statutory partners and other community stakeholders. You will also be given the opportunity to give a voice to local groups and individuals within your local community but sharing information and experiences of people in your local area around community needs, how these are being met and where there a gaps in support.

How you actually get involved is open to discussion, but we would expect you to keep VAL informed of key updates in your local area, help us to make contact with groups in local communities, attend events and local venues to help us promote our services and help us to share key messages with people in your local area.
You will be given named contacts in VAL’s Sector Support team to work with and we will discuss the best ways to stay in touch with you. This role could work flexibly around your other commitments, so we would be keen to involve volunteers from a range of different backgrounds.
