About this role
The trustees meet every other month to ensure things are running smoothly with the youth club, which is run by paid youth leaders plus volunteers.
The trustees have to manage and oversee the finances of the charity. Some of the trustees either help with DIY repairs or organise professional help for maintaining the building in good repair.
They have to ensure that all the necessary policies and procedures are in place to make sure that both young people and all other staff and volunteers stay safe.
Some of the existing trustees are no longer able to do the maintenance jobs they used to undertake and others would like to share some of their secretarial and admin tasks. We would be looking to the new trustees to be prepared to learn and eventually help with these tasks.

We are seeking one or two new trustees. By law they will have to be over 18 yrs. They should believe in the value of youth work in helping young people to grow to the best of their potential.
They must be able to make themselves available for a two hour meeting alternate months ( usually on a Monday evening) and occasionally more frequently if there are a lot of decisions to be made.
They must be able to work constructively within the existing group of trustees. They must be prepared to accept the responsibilities of a trustee as laid out by the Charity Commission.
Ideally they would bring management skills from previous posts and be prepared to give extra time to helping share the administrative tasks needed between meetings.
We would appreciate the ability to take minutes of meetings, computer skills to be able to keep electronic records, familiarity with computer spreadsheets and the ability to enter information into these.
DIY / maintenance skills to help keep the building in good condition would be much appreciated -eg. decorating, renewing light bulbs, minor plumbing tasks etc.
These other tasks could be organised at a time to suit the trustee.
There would be a period of mutual assessment-( probably six months), before legally becoming a trustee of the charity.
