About this role

We’re a committed and progressive charity, fiercely passionate to delivering the vision and mission of our founders; to enhance the lives of disabled people and make a positive and lasting difference to them and their community.

As a board member, you will use your skills and expertise to support our charity, ensuring all our work enables us to achieve our aims and core objectives. All trustees are jointly responsible for decision making as well as supporting us to define and deliver our strategy. Our key strategic priorities are as follows:

1.      To reach more disabled people.

2.      Support, develop and grow our people.

3.      Deliver operational excellence and effectiveness.

4.      Create a strong brand and a trusted voice.

5.      Be secure, sustainable and socially responsible.

Trustees will actively take part in board meetings, offering their expertise and views to direct and drive our work. In addition, trustees will be encouraged to join and lead sub-committees to enable the delivery of our strategic objectives.

Trustees are invited to work from our HQ so they can meet our teams and see our work in action; being visible to colleagues and actively learning more about the different services delivered by the charity.

Our office address is 2 Oak Spinney Park, Ratby Lane, Leicester LE3 3AW.

We expect trustees to commit up to 20 hours per month over a maximum of 6 months to complete the induction. Board meetings take place every other month between 11:00am and 1:30pm and are in-person. These meetings are planned a year in advance, to ensure maximum attendance of the board. Trustees will also lead on the planning and delivery of the annual AGM and away days.
