About this role

Himalayan balsam has become one of the UK’s most invasive weed species. It colonises river banks, waste ground and damp woodlands, competing with native plant species for space, light, nutrients and pollinators. It excludes other plant species, thereby reducing native biodiversity.

This opportunity involves removal of Himalayan Balsam along a stretch of the River Mease. Volunteers will be required to pull out the plants wearing gloves and waders, which will be provided. It is physical work in the outdoors and will be supervised by Trent Rivers Trust staff.

We are looking for a commitment of 3 days during June and July in the Measham area.
