About this role
You’ll work alongside the Museum Manager in this friendly local history museum. The site opened as a school in 1697, and still has a school onsite! We have lots of stories to tell, including the story of the school, the building (which was designed by none other than Sir Christopher Wren!), the changes in education since 1697, Sir John Moore, the history of Appleby Magna…. the list goes on.
· Take small groups up to the Museum
· Talk knowledgeably about each room
· Help to design and deliver an excellent visitor experience
· Answer questions
· Understand the history of the building and the content of the exhibitions, in order to discuss them with the public

Requirements
- Willing to take a DBS Check
You'll need to be enthusiastic, able to remember which stories to tell, and good at talking to members of the public. You don't need any experience, as training will be provided - as will lots of tea, coffee, and cake! We had a very successful first year last year, and hope to have a similar one this year. We are also open to new ideas and input - if you want to shape the way an Open Day or tour is presented, then we will give you the floor!
We open on the first Sunday of every month, and we are also open to pre-booked groups during weekdays. We will also open during the school holidays.
The museum is sited above a school, so you will need to undergo a DBS check.
• You will be confident when talking to the general public
• You will be able to deliver a great presentation about the site and Sir John Moore (we will give you lots of information!)
• You will be able to check that visitors are enjoying themselves, and tailor your presentation accordingly
• You will be available on Sundays or weekdays, perhaps even some evenings
