About this role
Discovery Trust is a partnership of 15 schools across Leicester city, Leicestershire and Rutland, and we are regularly seeking volunteers who can spare time to support effective governance in schools. (NB address given is central services office)
Governance is delegated locally to school Advisory Boards. They play a key role in influencing the development of schools and ensuring they are meeting the needs of children. Typically, Advisory Boards meets 4 times a year, sometimes in the school day, or early evening. Meetings are approx. 2 hours long and time is also required to read supporting papers in preparation for meetings. There are also opportunities to visit the school to see it in action. Anyone over the age of 18 and living in the UK can apply. No prior knowledge is required and a comprehensive range of training and support is provided. Appointments are subject to successful DBS clearance.

Are interested in education generally and our school in particular
Have a desire to play a part in improving our schools
Willing to give about 10 hours per term to attend meetings, training and background reading
Have the skills/experience that can be applied to the role
