About this role
VALUES believes in providing fun, friendly and productive activities for individuals with learning difficulties and as part of this VALUES run a Press Team session.
Volunteers are being sought to help support these sessions and the individuals who attend them. This is an ideal role for someone looking for meaningful and rewarding voluntary work with an additional interest in or passion for: news, media, writing, editing, or any other related activity.
The role will involve working with small groups of individuals, supporting and supervising them in the weekly session which focuses on giving the group a chance to undertake a range of activities related to producing a newsletter to be sent to service users
Volunteers will be supported by a VALUES support worker. Volunteers should be willing and able to work towards supporting groups independently.
This role is ideal for someone who is confident and experienced in dealing with people. Experience of dealing with individuals with learning disabilities would be advantageous. Additionally some basic experience or an in interest in media, writing and the other activities mentioned would be beneficial.
Individuals would need to be comfortable supervising and leading groups, as the role requires a certain level of self-sufficiency.
The session runs on a Friday 10- 12pm, and we would ask that you are able to commit to the session every week.
