As we're experiencing greater repair demand we're now looking for new volunteers & repairer / fixers with various repair skills , e.g. mechanical, textile & especially electrical experience working on household items, e.g. coffee machines, lights, HiFi, vacuums etc etc
Whilst something we might be able to do in the future, at the moment we don't have enough fixers (or space) to train people with no fixing experience.
However, if you've been tinkering with &; fixing your own things for a while, you may be able to help.
You don't need to have any particular electrical qualifications but will have a grasp of electrical fundamentals.
Some of the things we get in are very complicated and detailed knowledge is required to fix them but there are common things that fail on different types of equipment and it's not essential to know exactly how each of them work to be able to repair them.
We're a friendly bunch and help each other and share our knowledge. Our existing fixers like to further their knowledge & experience in this way.
It can be very satisfying to use your knowledge to save something from being scrapped. Often for little or even no monetary cost, the cost to planet can be reduced by giving things new lease of life, as well as helping with the cost of living crisis.
Everything we fix is PAT tested after repair. If you're already a PAT tester, that's a skill we can use.
Ideally to support every other Saturday morning & alternating weekly with the existing team .
If you are interested to learn more or help immediately please contact us on Facebook or drop by our Repair Cabin we're in the Ecovillage courtyard every Saturday morning
