About this role

LOROS Hospice is a local charity and every year we provide free, high-quality, compassionate care and support to terminally ill adult patients, their family and carers across Leicestershire & Rutland. Our Vision (long term aspiration for our society) is that everyone with an incurable illness has the right to excellent care. This should value and respect their uniqueness and their own choices. People should be enabled to live and die with dignity and with appropriate and compassionate support for themselves and their loved ones.

Each year we have to raise £6 million to keep the charity going to provide services for patients and their families and our 32 charity shops spread across Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland play a vital part in helping up raise that much needed income.

We are looking for more volunteers to support the running of our Wigston Town Centre shop. It is currently open from 9.30am-4.30pm, Monday- Saturday but we are looking to extend this to Sundays in the summer months. Tasks could include receiving & processing donations, steaming & tagging clothing ready for selling, arranging displays on the shop floor and serving customers at the till. Full training would be provided.

If you are looking to meet lots of new people, work as part of a team, develop your customer service skills and are interested in serving your local community then this could be the role for you! Variable shift times are available from a couple of hours to a whole morning/afternoon, preferably on a weekly basis but fortnightly and monthly shifts could be discussed. All of our shops could not run without the support of volunteers, so by signing up you would be keeping a vital income stream open whilst supporting a very worthwhile cause.

Through our recruitment and volunteering policies, we ensure that no individual receives more or less favourable treatment on the grounds of race, age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, sex and sexual orientation and religion or belief.
