Kitchen Assistants play an important part in ensuring that all individual experiences in the Dining Room are positive. Assisting in the Dining Room is a great way to gain a greater understanding of what Rainbows provides to all those who use it, as the dining room is a hub of happiness.

If you enjoy meeting a variety of people and are comfortable carrying out a range of basic food preparation tasks in the kitchen, alongside ensuring the dining room is clean, tidy and organized, this could be the perfect volunteering opportunity for you. We offer flexible morning, afternoon or early evening shifts throughout the week to suit your avialability, see below:
Monday to Sunday, between 10am – 5pm.
Typical tasks included in the role:

- Assist with basic food preparation such as peeling and chopping vegetables

- Manage the presentation of food on display

- Assist with cleaning after mealtimes; to include loading and unloading the dishwasher, wiping down surfaces and emptying bins

- Assist the catering team with the planning of weekly menus
It is not required that you have any qualifications or experience for this role, as we will teach you everything that you need to know throughout your induction. This role requires you to be comfortable with being on your feet for the majority of your shift, with some moving and handling of crockery, serving dishes, etc., as part of the role.
