Overview:

As a Volunteer Youth Support Worker with the Inspire Young People and Families Association, you will play a crucial role in helping to inspire, support, and guide vulnerable young people and families in our community. You will work alongside a team to create a safe, supportive, and positive environment where young people can thrive and develop essential life skills.
Your main duties will include providing mentoring, engaging in group activities, offering emotional support, and helping to build the confidence and resilience of young people facing a variety of challenges.

About the organisation:

We are a youth association, and we run a send youth club once a week and three times a week we run a community youth group taking young people out into the community.

Full Details:

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to vulnerable young people, offering guidance and a listening ear.
• Participate in activities designed to build confidence, social skills, and emotional resilience.
• Engage young people in creative, educational, and fun activities that encourage personal development.
• Support families by providing a safe and nurturing environment during sessions.
• Maintain appropriate records and report any concerns to the lead coordinator, following safeguarding procedures.
• Be a positive role model and contribute to building a supportive, inclusive atmosphere for young people.

When and Where:

Friday evenings during term time for schools between the hours of 18:00-20:00 hours. We meet at the hall behind Knightthorpe Methodist Church.

Skills and Qualities Required: • Good Listening Skills: The ability to actively listen and offer thoughtful, compassionate support. • Patience and Empathy: Understanding and support for the challenges vulnerable young people face. • Creativity: Ability to think outside the box and engage young people with creative activities and solutions. • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with young people, families, and colleagues. • Adaptability: Flexibility to work in a dynamic, often challenging environment. Desirable Qualifications: • Experience working with vulnerable young people or families: Prior experience in youth work, social care, or similar roles is essential. • DBS Check: A current DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) or one will be obtained for you • Drivers Welcome: While not essential, having a driving license an access to a vehicle may be helpful for transport needs. ( Relevant insurance is required)
