About this role
Woodgate Community Food is a friendly, welcoming organisation, created by local volunteers during the first lockdown to support the needs of our community.
We would like a handful of regular volunteers who could commit to being available mainly Friday and Saturday when the foodbank is open and be a key holder for deliveries at other times. There are also admin tasks at home during the week. This can be flexible. We currently have a meeting online on Monday evenings, and a team of volunteers who manage our phone lines during the week. As our founding volunteers have had to return to work, we are short of people who can commit during the week and are willing to manage and take responsibility.
The activities involve managing delivery systems, setting up for and preparing food parcels with volunteers, organising delivery drivers, sorting food for open sessions, general cleaning and stock management. Lifting abilities would be welcome but not essential.
Main days are Thursdays (an hour two prepping deliveries admin from home), Friday opening for deliveries 9-2pm and supervising activity on Saturdays 9.30am-2pm.
When you can volunteer
- Willing to take a DBS Check
We ask our supervisory volunteers to take DBS checks as they are supervising other volunteers which may include under 18s.
