About this role
Health+ aims to support patient access to primary care. Health+ will be setting up events across Leicester in GP surgeries and community organisations. NHS App trainers will deliver group sessions covering the NHS App and GP online services to local communities members and GP surgery patients in Leicester. The training presentation will be no longer than 1 hour. Time will be needed for setting up the presentation and for the collection of evaluation forms at the end of the session.
We are looking for volunteers who have previous experience of presenting to groups. You will have the ability to explain subjects clearly. You will have the confidence to field questions and to explain digital health applications to people who may be from other cultures and backgrounds. However not all trainers need to have additional language skills.
We welcome applicants who have language skills in languages that are commonly spoken in Leicester e.g. Urdu, Gujarati, Polish and Hindi. We also welcome applicants who have BSL skills too.
All NHS App/GP Online Services Trainers will:
- Complete a DBS application form.
- Attend training in the NHS App and GP online services.
- Attend shadowing from experienced NHS App/GP online services trainers.
- Commute to surgeries and community groups in their local area.
- Present/Demo the NHS App and GP online services training as applicable to the audience.
- Answer questions from the audience.
- Ensure that a record of attendees is collected.
- Report back on attendance and any issues and queries to the project manager.
- Encourage patients and community members to complete evaluation forms at the beginning of a training session (base line) and at the end.
- Attend monthly volunteer meetings.

We will require evidence of presenting to small audiences either in an educational setting, a voluntary setting or another role. You will need to demonstrate an understanding for digital applications and experience of using them.
You will need to provide two references and complete a DBS check.
You will need to be 18+.
You must be willing to commute to local organisations and GP surgeries in your local area.
You will need to be available for at least 3 hours per week.
Have some flexibility around availability.
Commit to this project for at least 3 months.
