About this role
After18 runs a group for young asylum seekers who have recently arrived in Leicester but haven’t yet started school or college. The weekly group provides an opportunity for them to gain some basic English skills, become accustomed to the classroom environment and education system and meet others from a similar background.
We are looking for an experienced volunteer teacher or tutor to support this group, providing English tuition at beginner level and helping the young people prepare to go to school or college.
Volunteers must be available on a Monday morning (11-12:30) or afternoon (1:30-3) in Leicester city centre.
As a volunteer teacher at After18, you may be involved in:
- Working one-to-one or in small groups with young people
- Planning a learning session to introduce new language skills
- Developing and maintaining After18’s learning resources
- Recording and evaluating progress
For more information or to request an application form please get in touch by phone or email via our contact page.
