About this role
Working with members of other service groups as in the Santa Reindeer sleigh in and around Ashby every December, and an annual day out for Senior Citizens every June. We arrange a number of our own events such as Ashby’s Big Tidy Up, our Ski Ball game at the Coronation and Food Gusto events, etc. Promoting or assisting in Youth competitions such as Youth Speaks and Young Musician and at own unique Juniors Speak event for 8-11 yr. olds (non-competitive) every March.
Benefits to the volunteer
Enjoying interacting with fellow volunteers, Rotarians & the public. Enjoying the satisfaction of helping someone in their hour of need at the time or in the future.
All volunteers will be fully insured (Public Liability) whilst taking part in Rotary club run events, projects and activities.
They will also be insured if taking part in Rotary club specific activities within a larger event such as Food Gusto, or Jims Tractor Run.
Training
Other than what is needed to assist Rotarians in the listed activities and events, no specific training is needed.
Requirements
Skills required
No specific skills other than a willingness to help others, to engage with people in a friendly and informative manner, be reliable and trustworthy (often we are dealing with public donations and so are accountable to our trustees and the Charity commission), enjoy having fun and are happy to volunteer to help rather than wait to be asked.
Everyone is welcome and our organisation is fully inclusive having policies on Safeguarding for vulnerable children and adults, Disability guidance, Equality and Diversity and Dignity.
Some events may require a minimum age limit, but potential volunteers will be advised of this.
You will receive all the support and help you need with Rotarians offering advice if volunteers haven’t taken part in specific events, projects or activities.
