About this role

VASL’s Community Champions is looking for caring people over the age of 18 to volunteer their time and skills, to help isolated or lonely people (over 60 who live in the Harborough District) reconnect with their local community, discover new opportunities and achieve their personal goals, with your support, encouragement and companionship.

 

Your role will involve:

 

    • Email Community Volunteers send a weekly email to provide social contact to an older lonely person and signpost appropriate information

 

    • PenPal Volunteers write to an older person regularly to share news and provide external interest

 

    • Liaising with and feeding back to project worker

 

    • Attending an initial training session

Reports back to Project Team accurately and regularly

Communicates clearly by letter or email sharing news of common interest

Volunteers will be required to attend an initial day of new volunteers training and familiarise themselves with Safeguarding Practices. Volunteers will provide three forms of identity documents and two references.
