Why we need you:
We’re looking for enthusiastic people with a passion for conservation and supporting others, who are looking to gain experience in the environmental sector. Our National Forest Team works with industry leaders, public authorities and landowners on projects which range from footpath construction and dry-stone walling on regionally important sites to hedgerow planting, meadow management and forestry practices. Our National Forest Team comprises of an array of people, all with different levels of skills and experience, and as a Volunteer Officer you’ll help everyone feel supported, included, and able to develop their potential. In this role you’ll be supported to develop you own leadership and project management skills, and Conservation Volunteer Officers often progress from this role into careers in the environmental sector.

As a Volunteer Officer you are a valued part of the busy, friendly and dynamic National Forest Team, but the wider Midlands Team.

How much time:
Conservation Volunteer Officers volunteer for two to four days a week, Tuesday to Friday (Occasional weekend sessions may be offered for special events)

Requirements

  • Driving license
  • References needed

What you need:
Commitment, enthusiasm and a passion for working with others in any outdoors setting are the main things we ask for in our Conservation Volunteer Officers. We welcome applications from people just starting out or in the process of changing their careers, as well as people with practical conservation experience. For this role we ask for a regular time commitment of a minimum of two days a week, Tuesday to Friday (Occasional weekend session may be offered for special events). Where roles will be responsible for others, we need to check your references. When the role involves young people and vulnerable adults, we will need to ask for an Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau, the cost of which will be covered by TCV. Many people who work in the Environmental Sector have used a Volunteer Officer role as a stepping stone in their career.
