About this role
One of three officers (Chair/Treasurer/Secretary) leading a team of volunteer committee members
to deliver the aims of Ashby Arts Festival.
The voluntary position is held for one year minimum or longer, subject to re-election at each AGM.
Responsibilities
1. Take responsibility for the full programme of events for the festival throughout the year.
2. Chair committee meetings ensuring:
a. A balance is struck between time-keeping and space for discussions.
b. Business is dealt with and decisions made in line with the organisations constitution.
c. Make sure all actions from meetings minuted/recorded by the secretary (or other
members if absent)
d. The implementation of decisions is clearly assigned monitored.
3. To ensure an effective relationship between:
a. the committee and volunteers/performers/artists etc involved in events
b. the committee and the external stakeholders/community (e.g. Town
Council/NWLDC/local landlords and traders)
4. Acting as a spokesperson and figurehead as appropriate.
5. Work with other officers and committee members to deliver the event plan(s) and risk
assessments; ensuring relevant insurances, procedures and policies are in place.
6. Working with the treasurer and secretary to ensure secure and transparent finances and
appropriate documentation of activities.
