To provide befriending and/ or mentoring, as part of the Moving Forward with Confidence Project, which covers Leicester City and Leicester County. This service offers companionship and support to older people who are lonely and isolated, and can act as a gateway to other services and support.

About this role

Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, the project aims to support residents who live alone and have lost their confidence in going out into the community and accessing social activities. As a volunteer, you will be matched to an older person, to provide friendly conversation and companionship that overtime, will increase the person’s confidence. This may be through either telephoning befriending, or face-to-face befriending.

Requirements

  • Willing to take a DBS Check
  • Age restrictions

Volunteers will need to have a DBS, and will need to be over the age of 18.
