About the Role:
Our appropriate adults support children suspected of committing a crime who are detained and/or interviewed by police under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
The role of the appropriate adult is to safeguard the interests, rights, entitlements and welfare of children who are suspected of a criminal offence, ensuring that they are treated in a fair and just manner, and are able to participate effectively.
You do not need any specific education, experience or formal qualifications. Full training will be given.
A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
About You
To apply for this post, you must:
be over 18 years old
be able to act with independence from the police
undertake training in the AA role
Qualities you possess:
· enthusiasm and willingness to support children
· be able to relate to a diverse group of people
· effective communication
· good listening skills
· non-judgemental approach
· confidence and ability to deal with challenging situations
· access to your own vehicle is recommended but not always essential based on your location
