About the organisation:

The nation’s first aid charity, we operate in local communities supporting and encouraging adults and young people to learn vital emergency aid skills. Our volunteers also provide emergency first aid cover at local, regional and national events.

Full Details:

We are looking for new adult Youth Team volunteers to assist with running weekly St John Ambulance Cadet & Badger Units in the area. Cadets (10 to 17 years) and Badgers (5 to 10 years) learn vital first aid skills along with developing their teamwork, communication and leadership skills in safe, supportive environments.

Older cadets also get opportunities to volunteer with adult first aid teams both locally and nationally, providing first aid assistance to members of the public.
Youth Leaders are responsible for organising and running all or part of a weekly session with other leaders. No prior experience is required since we will provide you with all the training you need (both virtually and face to face). All resources needed to deliver the sessions are made available. A DBS check will be required since you’ll be working with young people. We will also provide you with a uniform and reimburse reasonable out of pocket expenses. Youth Leaders are not expected to deliver first aid training to young people, although many of them choose to. We have a dedicated team of first aid trainers to support our Youth Leaders. We look for a commitment of 2 to 2½ hours per week.

When and Where:

We have Cadet and Badger Units across Leicestershire meeting on different evenings. We are also hoping to open new Units in areas of Leicestershire where we can secure enough adult support.
