About this role
VASL`s new project is aimed at reducing isolation and improving wellbeing for adults with mild to moderate mental health issues. We recognise that many people are struggling with their mental health right now and are unsure about how to improve their wellbeing. Each trained and trusted volunteer contacts a client on a weekly basis to support with setting targets based on the 5 ways to Wellbeing model (Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Learn, Give). If you have mild to moderate mental health issues such as depression and anxiety and have a desire to make positive changes then we are here for you every step of the way. Our free inclusive Wellbeing Befriending Service is here to support anyone living in the Harborough district and is 18 or above.
We are keen to connect directly with anyone considering volunteering. As a new valued member of our VASL team you will receive full training and regular support, as well as many opportunities to connect with other volunteers. Our volunteer befrienders will contact a client on a weekly basis by telephone for a supportive friendly conversation. If you are keen to make a difference to the life of someone living in the Harborough district and you have up to an hour a week to commit to the project, then we would love to hear from you. We value the positive impact that volunteering has on the local community and are inclusive within our approach.
