Complete an introduction to Citizens Advice and training for your role
Complete benefits checks with clients, assist with filling in paper and online forms with clients, for example to apply for a benefit, or to complete an application for money or equipment from a charity

Complete benefits checks for clients and explain how to claim
Assist with some claims if relevant
Source other money or equipment
Signpost to other sources of assistance if relevant
Assist to challenge benefits decisions
Refer onto other sources of advice and make appointments for clients

Specific Requirements or Restrictions

You need to: * Be friendly and approachable * Be non-judgmental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own * Have good listening skills * Have excellent verbal and written communication skills * Have good maths and IT skills * Be able to understand information and summarise it * Be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection * Be willing to undertake training * Commit to at least 7 hours per week for 6-12 months * Be available to give this time over one day or spread over two days, with some flexibility
