About the organisation:

Huncote Family Hub is part of the Blaby, Oadby and Wigston area, we offer a range of groups and parenting classes to the community to support babies, children and young people, parents and carers. We’re looking for volunteers to run a stay and play session – parents and carers bring their babies and pre school children along, we provide activities, toys and games to enable them to learn through play. We can provide information and guidance on a range of parenting issues and signpost and refer to helpful services. Volunteers can bring their own children with them.

Full Details:

This role is required at Huncote Family Hub in the Blaby area of Leicestershire. You will be required to volunteer for 2.5 hours per week on a Wednesday morning. Arriving at 9.30am you will set up the room with activities for babies and pre school children and toddlers. At 10.15am you will welcome local families to the hub and engage them in the activities provided. Activities can include art and craft activities, outdoor play, a sensory and baby area, story and rhyme time, messy play and much more. All activities are planned around the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) providing opportunities for children to learn through play. You will provide information to the parents and carers attending about other local groups and support they can access. All training and guidance will be provided. Expenses are also provided and for those with young families or caring responsibilities you can bring your children with you whilst you volunteer.
At the end of the session, at 11.45am you will put away activities leaving the room/spaces clean and tidy ready for the next group that will be using the hub. This role is an excellent stepping stone for anyone wishing to move into a career in childcare, support or social work or simply wanting to give time in their community to children and families, make friends, build your skills and get experience in the workplace.

18+ years old. 2 references required. Enhanced DBS check for the adult and child workforce will be taken up. no experience or qualifications required.
