About this role
What you’ll be doing
- Attending an online induction and training on how to be a confident and effective public speaker in various places, including churches, community groups such as WI , Rotary and schools for The Children’s Society
- Delivering talks in your local community to small groups, including at our box opening evenings
- When you are ready, delivering talks to large audiences in churches, at local businesses and other groups, and arranging your own talks
- Speaking to these audiences to raise awareness of the issues facing vulnerable children and explaining how we are here to help, thanks to our donors and supporters.
- Thanking existing donors and supporters and letting them know about the impact they’ve had
- Encouraging audience members at each talk to get involved, particularly through our House Box network Fundraising events and campaigns
- Proactively supporting us to source talks in your local area

Passionate about helping vulnerable children and young people
Friendly and outgoing, and enjoy meeting people from all backgrounds
Happy to speak publicly, eventually to large groups
Curious, and willing to learn more about our projects, campaigns and research, on an ongoing basis to create and adapt talks
Organised and prepared to provide feedback after each talkAble to do four talks per year
Willing to travel around your area and able to organise your own transport
Able to access the internet and use email
