About this role

Volunteer Drivers have a big part to play in making sure our shops have stock to sell which in turns raises hugely valuable funds for the Hospice.

Will it suit me?

If you have a full driving licence and are able to drive a transit style van, and you are not phased finding new locations across the East Midlands, volunteering your time as a Driver for Rainbows Hospice will be good fun and hugely rewarding.

You will mainly be involved in delivering stock to our 4 shops across Leicestershire with a 5th in Beeston – Nottingham, meeting the teams in the shop and members of the public.

You will meet with many different individuals, so it goes without saying, you need to be really good with people.

For general driving to our shops, we would ask that you are able to commit your time for half a day a week between Monday and Sunday with some flexibility.

Typical tasks the work could involve:

    • ·         Assist with loading goods for delivery to shops and unloading at the other end
    • ·         Deliver goods to shops and ensure vehicle mileage logs are correctly completed
    • ·         Occasionally collect sizable donations to bring into Rainbows at Loughborough
    •           Supporting with the collection and dropping off of the “where’s it bin?” scheme

Requirements

  • Driving license
  • References needed
  • Willing to take a DBS Check
  • Age restrictions

This volunteer opportunity is open to anyone aged 21 and above.
You are required to have a valid driving license for this role.

You will only be driving in a company vehicle. We do not expect you to drive your own vehicle during your volunteering hours, you will only be required to drive your own vehicle to and from the hospice where the vehicles are based.

Confidence around driving a number of different types of vehicles would be an advantage

There will be a variable amount of lifting and carrying of boxes and bags of stock for shops, so you need to be comfortable with doing this - however, reasonable adjustments can be made.
