About this role

Story Time is an enjoyable, social and educational activity that encourages interaction and listening skills for children of all ages through sharing stories. The sessions contribute to social and language development in children of all ages and promote reading as enjoyable and fun. The role is ideally shared by more than one volunteer so that individuals are supported in the role. Volunteers activities will include:

• Prepare and run a regular Story Time session in the library
• Welcome children and their parents/carers as they arrive and introduce new people to the group
• Select suitable reading material and lead the telling of stories and rhymes
• Encourage and support children and their parents/carers to participate in the sessions
• Use appropriate library resources for the sessions
• Creation and sharing of promotional materials
• Promote library services (as appropriate)

Requirements

Volunteers will have the opportunity to:
