About this role

The Baxter Hall is a community managed facility in the heart of the village of Stoke Golding. Dating back to 1867, the building was originally established as a school and reading room for working men. When the school moved out of the building, the facility continued to be used as a community facility for the benefit of the village. In February 2020, after the Leicester Diocesan Board of Education put the building up for sale, a group of villagers were successful n convincing the Board to agree to the transfer of the building to the recently established Baxter Hall Charity in order that it could be retained as a community building.

The Trustees are now looking to implement a series of improvements to the building and are seeking an individual with the drive and imagination to help promote the facility to both within the community and with potential user groups in order to maximise revenues and utilisation of the building.

The position would involve

  • developing and managing the Charity’s facebook page and website
  • developing marketing initiatives to enhance the charities profile within the community
  • liaising with Trustees and user groups to promote take-up and usage of the building

Trustees meet monthly and the ability to attend these meetings would be useful but not essential.

Requirements

  • Accepts ex/offenders

The position does not require any formal training or qualification and would be suitable for anyone of any age with an interest and enthusiasm in the deployment of social media. In brief, the successful individual would have
- a working knowledge of social media and the mechanics of it's deployment
- good communication skills in order to liaise with Trustees, user groups, and members of the community
- enthusiasm for and commitment to the development of a community facility.

There is no requirement to commit to specified hours and the requirements of the role could easily be fulfilled from home. It is anticipated that the role would require approx 3-4 hours per week.
