Shop Volunteer

About this role

We are a café, charity shop and community centre offering friendship and practical support for everyone in Kibworth and surrounding villages.  Whilst The Well is built on a Christian foundation, we are open to everybody of any faith or none. We aim to be a hub for the local community – in particular to offer support and advice to those most in need – where all who enter our doors feel welcome, valued, loved and appreciated.

Our shop is a very sociable environment, so you will find yourself chatting to customers and other volunteers about their days and life experience to help make everyone feel welcome and comfortable.

We ask Shop Assistants to be available for at least one shift a week, usually for four hours per shift. We might contact you to take on additional shifts occasionally when managers or other shop volunteers are on leave.

You should be 16 years of age or older (there is no upper age limit) to apply for this opportunity.  We are looking for enthusiastic people to volunteer with us as 'shop assistants' in our charity shop space. As part of this role, you will be asked to serve customers in the shop, sort through donations, use the steamer on second hand clothing and use the touchscreen till.  You might be asked to work with and supervise volunteers with additional needs, for which guidance will be given. You must be able to be patient and kind at all times with customers, fellow volunteers (some of whom may have additional needs visible or non-visible), management and trustees.  A willingness to turn your hand to any reasonable task during a shift is important.  If you have a few hours to spare and want to help the community of Kibworth and surrounding villages, please do complete an application form.  Thank you for your interest.
