Reaching People – Just ASK Ambassador

In an increasingly digitalised world, often the only way to access information and services is online whether that’s making a doctor’s appointment, completing a housing application, accessing benefits or finding the best money saving deals. For many this is difficult and overwhelming not least because they lack the digital skills and confidence.

Just ASK (Access Services and Know-how) is an initiative to help address this across Leicester City.

We are looking for volunteers, with at least basic digital skills, who will be given the training and resources required to support local people using community/food hubs, to understand and navigate websites so that they can access the information they need and build their confidence to do it themselves in future.

We welcome all applicants including those who have language skills in languages that are widely spoken in Leicester e.g. Urdu, Gujarati, Polish and Hindi. We also welcome applicants who have BSL skills too.

Just Ask Ambassadors will either travel to or be based at one or more Leicester City foodbank(s) /community hub(s) to provide digital support to the service users.

Just ASK Ambassadors will be required to ensure records are kept of the support given to service users.

The following training will be provided:

~NHS App training
~Additional training resources are provided along with ongoing volunteer support.
