Volunteers are fundamental to the delivery of all events, and carry out roles such as setting up the event, marshalling, timekeeping, scanning, handing out finish tokens or tail walking, to name just a few.
Each event is encouraged to have as many volunteers as they can and to never turn down an offer from someone to volunteer. A course can never have too many Marshals and multiple Tail Walkers can make the event even more fun!
parkrun is a free, timed 5km event every Saturday morning. The event starts at 9am with volunteers arriving from 8:25am.
Core volunteer roles include:
* Course Marshal – Provides encouragement and route guidance for participants.
* Timekeeper – using a simple, free app, this role is always carried out in pairs so that you are always part of a mini team.
* Funnel Manager – The funnel is the finish area. Here you will make sure that everyone that should come through the finish does so and discourages funnel duckers.

parkrun takes place outside in all weathers.
parking is in the top carpark but there is a lower carpark for those that have mobility requirements. Parking charges apply, please use the app or parking machine on entry.
On arrival, the parkrun core team will be easily identifiable in pink high visibility vests. Simply let one of the team know that you have arrived to volunteer.
As you will be outside for some time, dress for the weather conditions and if needed, feel free to bring a fold up chair / stool but be aware that you will need to transport any kit yourself.
Access to your own mobile phone is ideal if completing a role that requires the parkrun app.
