Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland is an independent local charity with a national name. We work in the local community to help older people live happier, active, fulfilled and socially-engaged lives in communities around the City, County and Rutland.

Full Details:

Welcome and information provision: Welcoming attendees and providing access to
information such as leaflets on display.
2. Communication: Support attendees to access 1-2-1 conversations about their mental
health if required with yourself as a volunteer or a member of staff if this is more
appropriate. Support attendees to engage in session activities.
3. Session set up: Support staff to set up activities and refreshments before the session
begins and pack away activities and refreshments at the end of the session.
4. Refreshments: Support with providing refreshments to group attendees, i.e. making tea,
coffee.
5. Communication with staff / Safeguarding: Communicating any concerns to staff,
including any concerns you have observed or issues that have been disclosed to you by
the session attendees.
6. Reliability: Communication with role manager to confirm your attendance and advise if
unable to attend a group.
7. Café Development: Work with the staff to reflect on the facilitation of the sessions
during a post-session debrief, in order to support the development of the cafe.
8. Understand boundaries of role: NMHC volunteers do not provide personal care to
attendees, do not carry attendees in their cars as passengers and do not contact or visit
attendees outside of the cafe environment.
9. Training: To undergo appropriate training as required. Mandatory training includes
Mental Health Awareness, Suicide Awareness, Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity,
Managing Boundaries and Confidentiality.
