An Independent Visitor (IV) is a volunteer who visits and befriends a child or young person living in care. Independent Visitors are amazing and make a real difference to the lives of our Leicestershire Children in Care ??
The role involves visiting a young person in care once a month for a few hours to do a fun activity. The children are aged from 7 – 21 years old. The role is flexible to fit in with your own commitments. The role is voluntary but independent visitors receive expenses for travel and activities.
As an independent visitor you would offer a young person, support, advice, encouragement during their time in care and often beyond, having a lot of fun on the way!!
We have lots of boys waiting who would benefit from a positive male role model.
If you could be a positive role model and inspire a young person in care to try something new, and give them a break from their everyday life, becoming an independent visitor could change your life as much as theirs!!
