About this role

Homework clubs provide vital support for children who do not otherwise have the help they need. They offer a safe, quiet and calm space for students to concentrate in a neutral supportive environment. It enables children to access relevant resources and equipment to homework with fewer distractions than at home. Homework clubs offer the opportunity for either 1-2-1 work with students or supporting small groups. They also help parents to play an active role in supporting their child’s learning and development. Volunteers activities will include:

• To assist children and parents in using the library for homework purposes
• Creation and sharing of promotional materials
• Finding useful information from books, library resources and relevant online resources
• Helping children to choose suitable books
• Helping young people to read and understand tasks and information
• Giving one to one help with specific tasks such as simple maths, spelling practice etc.
• Supervising and encouraging the children ensuring they are safe, comfortable, happy and well behaved


WHEN: 3.30-4.30pm every Thursday
