Do you have Education experience and a few hours to spare each week to enrich the life of a young person? Then we’d be very happy to hear from you! We are currently searching for volunteer English teachers to join our education drop-in on Thursday evenings in the city centre.

About the organisation:

After18 is a charity which specialises in supporting unaccompanied children and young refugees under 25 to adjust to living in the UK, consider their options and prepare for their future. We also provide a wide range of activities for young people to socialise, have fun and learn new skills.

Full Details:

We are currently recruiting experienced volunteer teachers or tutors to support Children and Youth with their learning. We specifically need English teachers at a range of levels: Beginners; Functional skills – Entry Level 1 and 2; and GCSE

Volunteers must be available on a Thursday evening (5-7pm) in central Leicester.

As a volunteer teacher at After18, you may be involved in:

*Working one-to-one or in small groups with Children and Youth
*Planning a learning session to reinforce skills taught at college
*Developing and maintaining After18’s learning resources
*Recording and evaluating progress

Here are the requirements: – Previous Education experience essential – Awareness of, or willingness to familiarise with, exam syllabus and exam requirements – Spoken and written fluency in English – Compassion and sensitivity to asylum-seeking Children and Youth – Ability to work within After18’s policies and procedures – Ability to commit for the academic year – Commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the children and Children and Youth they come into contact with – Enhanced criminal record check – Two references
