Full Details:

VASL’s Community Champions is looking for caring people over the age of 18 to volunteer their time and skills, to help isolated or lonely people (over 60 who live in the Harborough District) reconnect with their local community, discover new opportunities and achieve their personal goals, with your support, encouragement and companionship.

Your role will involve:
*Email Community Volunteers send a weekly email to provide social contact to an older lonely person and signpost appropriate information
*PenPal Volunteers write to an older person regularly to share news and provide external interest
*Liaising with and feeding back to project worker
*Attending an initial training session

You’ll need to be reliable, non-judgmental, and willing to report back regularly. You’ll also need to communicate clearly in your letters or emails, sharing news of common interest.
