We are looking for volunteers to support the pilot of Culture to You in the Oadby and Wigston area. Delivering and exploring collections of art, museum handling objects and cultural activities with people unable to get to our heritage and library sites, in their own homes.

About the organisation:

Leicestershire County Council’s Communities and Wellbeing Service support over 800 volunteers within Libraries, Heritage and Adult Learning who help make a difference to our local communities.

Full Details:

Culture to You: is a new offer aimed at providing ‘at home’ access to collections of art, museum handling objects, and cultural activities to people unable to get to our heritage and library sites. We’re looking for volunteers to support our pilot in the Oadby and Wigston area.

As a CTY volunteer you will be involved in:

• The delivery and display of artworks and objects, to and in our clients’ homes.
• Befriending & exploring connections though creative & learning activities with clients.
• Supporting the evaluation of the pilot project and help shape its future development

• Gain experience of supporting people of different ages and abilities
• Training provided including: Object handling, safeguarding and dementia awareness
• Activity plans and all resources / materials provided
• Enhance understanding of the importance of connecting and engaging with culture

Flexibility to suit you (Mon-Fri) with a regularity of every 3-4 weeks.:

Taking art and objects from the Record Office to clients homes in the Oadby and Wigston area:

Is this you?:

• Interested in art/culture/history and its role in supporting peoples wellbeing
• Friendly and confident engaging with and befriending a diverse range of people
• An effective communicator
• Able to drive and willing to travel (In the Oadby and Wigston areas)
• Willing to undertake training to help carry out this role.
• Aged 18 and above
• Able to carry and transport objects and artworks

Morning Monday, Morning Tuesday, Morning Wednesday, Morning Thursday, Morning Friday, Afternoon Monday, Afternoon Tuesday, Afternoon Wednesday, Afternoon Thursday, Afternoon Friday
