Job Description – Café Assistant

Role Title – Volunteer Café Assistant
Tasks and Responsibilities
Working as part of a group in an exciting community business venture – A community Cafe for the community, run by the community to benefit the community. We want to give something back: Supporting people to gain new skills, raising money for community projects and will offer a space for the community to come together and enjoy a coffee, meal and socialise.
Our Community Café is based at The Grove in Braunstone. We are looking for friendly, punctual, reliable people who enjoy meeting new people and volunteering in a café environment. Our café will be open at various times in the week so there will be lots of opportunity to volunteer.
Duties will include:
Serving food and drinks to customers in the café/Taking orders
Making sure the kitchen and café area are clean and hygienic
Clearing tables checking people are happy and need anything else
Checking stocks and updating records
Helping to support the rest of team, cleaning down at the end of our shift.
Any other duties requested by your Manager
You will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service and will include cash handling, cleaning and food preparation.

Responsible to: Dawn Mckenna: Community Café Development Worker
No previous experience required. We can provide full training.
Organised and good communicator.
Friendly nature and able to offer a professional service to customers at all times.
Ability to work well in a team
You will receive a 1 to 1 induction with your Community Development Worker. You will receive on the job training.
Various training courses will be made available to enhance your volunteering experience.
Additional training can be provided in areas such as:
Health & Safety
Manual Handling if required
Uniforms for the café will be provided.
If have any Covid 19 symptoms please inform your Community Development worker as soon as possible.

Support and Supervision
e will aim to offer you the support that you need to carry out the role of a Café team member successfully. Following the induction training you will have regular meetings with your Development Worker to review the progress of your volunteering and allow you to raise any issues you may have.
It is part of your role to let the Development Worker, or other named member of b-inspired staff know if you have any serious concerns regarding your volunteering.
When you can volunteer
- Willing to take a DBS Check
No experience is necessary.
