About this role
Join us aboard our accessible canal boat! Our charity offers day trips to people with disabilities and their families and/or personal assistants. Volunteer crew members make these trips possible, working as a team to create a fantastic experience of the waterways for our customers. We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic, and reliable volunteers who can help this service thrive.
Experience of canal boats is not required as training is provided, however enthusiasm for the outdoors is ideal!
The key responsibilities:
- Work with other crew to prepare the boat for a trip.
- Follow the instruction of the Skipper.
- Support with opening and closing of the locks.
- Be a friendly face for passengers and communicate with them throughout. If required, assisting them to alight the boat safely.
- Make refreshments.
- Assist with closing procedures
Day trips run from approximately 10am-4pm. The season is from April-end of September.
